Obituary: Richard J. Harmon | Lewiston Sun Journal - The Bethel Citizen

J. Harmon WALES – Richard J. Harmon, 53, of Wales, passed away unexpectedly of an apparent heart attack on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2020. He was born in Lewiston on Dec. 13, 1966, the son of Richard V. Harmon and the late Mary Joe (Karkos) Harmon. He attended local schools and graduated from Lisbon High School, class of ’85. He went on to earn a degree as a licensed funeral director from Mt. Ida College and was an owner/operator of Amesbury, White and Harmon Funeral Home. On Oct. 15, 2016 he married Jodie L. (Westland) Harmon, and they made their home in Wales. He was a member of Holy Trinity Church in Lisbon Falls, a member of the Knights of Columbus as well as many civic organizations. He is survived by his daughter, Ashley M. Harmon; his father, Richard V. Harmon; his sister, Jennifer and brother-in-law, Bob Bussiere, niece Vanessa Bussiere, and nephews Jacob and Ryan Bussiere all of Lisbon Falls; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Wayne and Caryn Westland, and niece Emily Westland, all of Lisbon; and many very special aunts and uncles; cousins; and friends that have become family. Denise Anne Gats AUBURN – Denise Anne Gats, 83, a resident of Lewiston, formerly of Livermore Falls, died peacefully on Sunday, November 3, 2019, at Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn, Maine. She was born May 14, 1936, in Jay, Maine, the daughter of Alfred Ouellette and Annie (Castonguay) Ouellette. She graduated from Jay High in 1954. She attended beautician school in Old Orchard Beach where she met her husband Joseph Gats. They married November 21, 1959, at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay. Denise enjoyed cooking, bowling and practicing her faith, including her many years as a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church and member of the Daughters of Isabella. However, her greatest love was family. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and adored Mimi to her grandchildren. She was happiest around the holidays surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Obituary: George Peter Nichols - Lewiston Sun Journal

George Peter Nichols of Palm Coast, Fla., formerly of Auburn, Maine, passed away after a long illness on August 11, 2019. George was born in 1927 in Lewiston, the son of Peter Nichols and Thelxy (Rallis) Nichols. He graduated from Lewiston High and then joined the Navy to serve during World War II. He was stationed on the USS Dayton. Upon return from the service, he attended the University of Maine and graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering.During his extensive career as an engineer, he collaborated on many projects with architects, as well as national and local contractors, where he oversaw the construction phase of projects for paper mills, power plants, schools, hospitals and municipal buildings. One of his career highlights was managing the installation of the entire security system at the George H.W. Bush Estate in Kennebunkport, Maine, during Vice-President Bush’s tenure.George was an active and long-time member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Lewiston, Maine, where he served on the Parish Council for more than 35 years.
